Frequently Asked Questions

What is Flickr Set Backup?
Flickr Set Backup is a small freeware Windows application which allows you to make

-
Why would I want to do that?
Flickr is a fantastic site and for most people its photoset pages will be all they ever need. I found, though, that I would be more comfortable if I had a higher degree of control over my gallery pages, and especially the ability to tweak them for search engine optimization. Flickr Set Backup allows you almost total control over where your Photosets live, how they look, and how they appear to search engines.

How do I download Flickr Set Backup?
Simply visit the Download section above. Ensure that you have Microsoft .NET installed on your computer, and if not, download and install it using the link provided above. Finally, download the self-contained setup package for Flickr Set Backup and follow the directions within.

How do I get Flickr Set Backup working?
- The first and most important thing is that you will need a Flickr account. You will need to sign up for one if you haven't already got it.
- Once you are set up on Flickr, start up Flickr Set Backup.
- The first thing it will do is open up a web page for you to authorize Flickr Set Backup to interact with Flickr.
- After you authorize this, close your web browser and return to the application. Press the button there marked Authorized.
- You will then get a message saying you need to choose a Flickr user name in order to proceed.
- Go to File > Preferences. Enter the Flickr user name whose photosets you wish to backup. This could be you, or any other Flickr user whose photosets you are able to view through your own Flickr account.
- Still in Preferences, choose a location as a base folder for your downloaded galleries. Sub-folders will be created in this location for each Photoset you back up.
- Close the Preferences dialog. Assuming all is well looking up the Flickr Username that you have entered, you should now see a list of available Photosets. Double-click on one or select one and press Backup to Local and the app should begin downloading that Photoset.
