Lee Robinson has published poetry, essays and short stories in many magazines and journals, including Harper’s, The Texas Observer, Crab Orchard Review and Southern Poetry Review.

Her poetry collection, Hearsay, was chosen by Robert Wrigley as the winner of the 2003 Fordham University Poets Out Loud Prize and is forthcoming from Fordham University Press (link to Press). Lee’s novel for young adults, Gateway, was published by Houghton Mifflin in 1996 and in paperback by Bantam Doubleday Dell in 1998. Lee is a three-time winner of the South Carolina Arts Commission’s Fiction Prize for her short stories. In 2000 she received a Poetry Fellowship from the Writers’ League of Texas/ Texas Commission on the Arts.

She has taught creative writing to both adults and children for Gemini Ink and she and her husband, Jerald Winakur, teach writing workshops at the their ranch outside Comfort, Texas. She has given readings at the Piccolo Spoleto Sundown Poetry Series in Charleston, S.C., the University of Texas at San Antonio, Gemini Ink in San Antonio, Hollins University, and the Southern Festival of Books, among other venues. Her work has been featured on Garrison Keillor's show "Writer's Almanac" on National Public Radio twice, once in September 2004 and then again in October 2004.

Lee Robinson will serve as the Fall 2006 Mentor in Poetry for Gemini Ink. The program uses a low-residency approach to provide intensive on-on-one critique of student work. Deadline for submission of manuscripts is June 16, 2006. For more information, e-mail info@geminiink.org.
